My graphic design skills give me a huge advantage for book marketing. It’s almost unfair. That’s why for years I’ve wanted some free online tools you can use to catch up. I don’t think Photoshop prowess should be a publishing requirement. You can always get cheap work done on Fiverr, but wouldn’t it be cool if you could just make your own promotional material?
I think so.
Today I had kind of a breakthrough when I realized how I can use my free tool at www.diybookcovers.com to make some amazing templates you can edit, add your book cover, and use to supercharge your 99cent or free campaigns.
Sweet right?
UPDATE: unfortunately flash died, but I’m rebuilding my online graphic design tool and it’s going to be awesome, so you can use my 3D mockup sets (above) and also add a background, text and other stuff. They’ll be great, when it’s ready, for promo and social media graphics you can use for book marketing
Also made some videos showing how to use the templates. First, the painfully boring hour long video (I’m just starting out, obviously I should have made 10 videos in that hour!).
But you should really just watch the quick little 5 minute video I made later.
But I warn you, it’s pretty bad too – lots of rambling and pauses. But starting to make video was a huge stumbling block for me last year and I’m proud to have begun… and I’ll get better, I promise!

A quick question – are you planning on releasing Photoshop PSD versions?
I personally find it easier to use Photoshop for creating graphics, but would totally understand if you want to keep them for use with the software you created.
